My Closet (operated by My Closet LLC (forming), San Diego, California) is an online marketplace where members list clothing, shoes and accessories from their own closets for other members to rent or buy. We are a venue. We do not own, inspect, store or ship items, and we are not a party to any rental or sale between members.
You must be 18+, provide accurate information, keep your password private, and have one account. We may require identity verification before you lend, borrow or receive payouts. We can suspend accounts that break these terms.
Lenders must own what they list, describe condition honestly, use their own photos, and set prices, deposits, late fees and cleaning fees within platform limits. Counterfeits, stolen goods, undergarments and swimwear bottoms worn without liners, and anything illegal are prohibited. We may remove any listing.
Every rental or purchase is governed by the Rental & Purchase Agreement the Borrower signs at checkout. The Borrower is responsible for the item from handover to confirmed return; the Lender is not liable for the Borrower's use. Late fees, deposits, Damage Protection and dispute handling are described in that agreement and in our Damage & Deposit Policy.
Renters pay a service fee shown at checkout; lenders pay a commission deducted from payouts; sellers pay a resale commission. Payments are processed by Stripe; payouts go to the lender's connected Stripe Express account. Sales tax may be collected where required. Fees can change with 14 days' notice.
Deposits are temporary card authorization holds. By booking, you authorize us to capture holds and to charge your saved card for amounts due under the Rental Agreement (extensions, late fees, loss or damage up to replacement value), after itemized notice and a 48-hour dispute window.
Be kind. No harassment, discrimination, off-platform payment to avoid fees, or scraping. Meet in safe public places for handoffs.
You own your photos and grant us a license to display them to run the service. Our AI tools analyze photos you choose to upload to suggest descriptions and crops; we do not scan your device, and we do not sell your photos. Faces you choose to crop out are not retained in the crop.
The service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee the condition, authenticity, fit or availability of any item or the conduct of any member. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some states do not allow these limits; they apply to you only as permitted.
You will defend and indemnify My Closet against claims arising from your items, your use of items, your content or your breach of these terms.
Try us first at the support email. Otherwise, disputes are resolved by binding individual arbitration in San Diego County under the AAA Consumer Rules, except either party may use small-claims court. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of signing up by emailing us. Class actions are waived.
We may update these terms; material changes are notified by email or in-app 14 days ahead. You can close your account anytime once open rentals are complete.
